Satchel is Done!

Yay! I finished the Satchel I made for Kris! I used Paton's Classic Merino in Dark Grey Mix and Grey Mix (one strand of each held together) for the MC, and Black for the CC. Kris is very happy with it and took it to work today.

Finished:

And open to show the pockets (I added one on the end for his cell phone):

And, just because she looked so funny, here is one of my kitties, Rowena, being a total fat sunshine whore:

And my younger brother called me today! He lives in California, so we don't actually get to talk that much between the time difference and our schedules, but I actually talked to him for a whole 20 minutes tonight! Yay!

And, for anyone who cares, I finished Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince in 5 hours and 20 minutes. Went to Barnes & Noble for the release, met a cool knitting woman who I hung out with the whole time while working on a purple Baby Bobbi Bear. Got home around 1AM, stayed up all night reading, and finished it at 6:20AM. And yes, I cried (and if you don't know why, I ain't saying). I'm a dork, ok?

I am officially a knitting junkie.

I cannot stop knitting. It's getting silly.

So, we knew Bryan and Wendy were headed to the hospital Sunday morning so Wendy could be induced. In the spirit of something-or-other, I decided to work making on the Baby Bobbi Bear for the baby while Wendy was working on making the baby. I finished first. The bear was finished last night while Kris and I watched Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, and baby Brynn was born at 4:56 this morning. I decided to add a scarf to the bear, just for fun (and because I am paranoid that a pastel blue bear is too "boy" for a baby girl) I'm still trying to decide if I should mail it, or wait to give it to Bryan at EdFest in a couple of weeks.

Anyway, ta da!

I've also cast on for a Branching Out scarf with my SouthWest Trading Co. Bamboo yarn. I think it's going to be really pretty. I'll post some WIP photos once I finish a few more repeats.

Off to knit and watch Spaceballs with hubby.

Jayne Hat!

So, Jen and I headed over to Stitch DC yesterday, and had a grand time. The owner was very friendly and very sweet, and the shop is really lovely. Open and airy and bright. Not that I don't still love the overabundance of yarn in an underabundance of space that is The Yarn Garden, but it was a nice change.

I picked up some Cascade 220 to make Jayne Hats for Eddie and Kris for the Serenity premiere, just because I thought they would be amusing. I love this yarn. Nice and soft and springy, and it knit up like a dream. (And I had to get the Cascade 220 just so Ed can break out
his favorite movie quote - "220, 221 - whatever it takes") I ended up using it doubled to get the appropriate "chunkiness" to the fabric. I had Kris model it to show Jen, and I just have to post
this silly picture of my incredibly silly husband:

The orange is not QUITE that neon in reality, thank goodness. So, now I just have to finish the second hat and send one of them up to Ed. I'm going to enclose a copy of the note that came with it in the original episode, just for fun.

I also picked up the Baby Bobbi Bear pattern and some Blue Sky Cotton to make two of them - one for Clint, and one for Bryan and Wendy's baby (whenever he/she arrives!). One will be light blue, and one will be light purple. I'll probably give the purple one to Clint, just
because it will amuse his daddy that it's PURPLE! Hyon promised me a picture of Clint in the sweater I made him, so as soon as I have it, I'll post it here.
